Common Questions About Vehicle Wrapping
We’ve gathered some of the most frequently asked questions about vehicle wrapping to help you better understand the process, benefits, and considerations.

What is a vehicle wrap?
Its like the Eddie Stobart and SKY vehicles you see on the roads. A digitally printed or opaque sheet of vinyl is fitted over the top of your existing paintwork. It is then formed in to place with heat and stretching to cast it into position.
Will vehicle wrapping damage the vehicle?
Applying specialist vehicle wrapping film to your vehicle will not damage your paintwork. However, If you already have stone chips. abrasions or rust patches on your paintwork it’s important to remember that when the vinyl is removed It may pull loose paint off with it. But, did you know? The film actually shields the paint against chips, abrasions and weathering to preserve your cars future value. So a car or van which you have on lease for 3 years can be protected and handed back as good as new once the lease has finished.
Who do I need to advise about my vehicle wrap?
- Insurance Company. It is important that you advise your insurance company that you have had your vehicle part/fully wrapped. This way should you be in the unfortunate position of having an accident or need to claim on your insurance company then they are aware of the costs and materials that will need to be replaced.
- DVLA. The DVLA should be contacted as the vehicle has had a colour change. This must be noted on the vehicle’s logbook (V5).
How long does a vehicle wrap last?
Professionally applied vehicle wrap will last between 3 and 5 years dependant upon how well you look after your vehicle.
Can I choose to wrap just part of my vehicle?
Vehicle wrapping is most effective when the whole vehicle is covered in a complete design, but you can chose to wrap just part of the vehicle, such as the rear doors or side panels.
Will my wrap split and crack in the panel recesses like other wraps I have seen on the roads?
No. Most wrap failures are caused by three factors. Firstly the quality of the material used (We only use 3M and Avery materials that we have tried and tested over many years). Secondly preparation and cleaning. Thirdly innovative training and knowing the capabilities of the materials we use.
How much will a wrap cost? I’ve been told by friends that they are expensive.
- The cost of the wrap depends on how far you want to go with it. Typically a full-colour digital wrap on a Transit short wheel base van would cost from £1,400.00. On the other hand a colour change to the same vehicle using 3M or Avery coloured vinyl would cost from £1,000.00.
- Consider that a full-colour advertisement in the Yellow Pages, on the inside front cover will cost you £9,000.00 and will last a year. A full wrap will cost you under £2,500.00 and will last for up to 5 years. Reports suggest that up to 24,000 people can see a fleet vehicle on the roads in a single working day, making your investment in a corporate identity worth around £1.37 per day in advertising over 5 years compared to £24.65 per day with the Yellow Pages… you do the maths.
